France among the innovators of the European Union

Published last July by the European Commission, the European Scoreboard examines innovation in research and innovation performance of Member States of the European Union and their regional neighbors. Not only the EU has increased compared to Japan and the US, but has also maintained a significant lead over China. France, meanwhile, is among the “notable innovators”, the results are higher than the EU average, including Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The performance of the hexagon innovation increased in 2015. With an index 9% higher than the EU average, against 6% in 2014, the country established its positioning in Europe and remains 11th in the standings. The openness and attractiveness of the research system in France is one of the main assets of the country, which is also supported by the qualification of its workforce and the dynamism of its businesses.
